Richard Ash

Richard Ash is a London-based photographer and visual storyteller, currently serving as a Lead Photographer at the Imperial War Museum. With a keen eye for atmosphere and narrative, Richard’s work explores the quiet tension of transitional spaces—those fleeting moments between action and stillness. His photography often captures the "nothing moment", inviting viewers to imagine what just occurred or what might unfold next.

Richard’s personal projects are marked by a minimalist aesthetic and a strong sense of composition, frequently rendered in graphic black-and-white. These images distill reality into symbolic forms, creating a contemplative visual language that resonates with themes of memory, absence, and anticipation.

Whether documenting history through institutional work or crafting evocative visual essays, Richard Ash brings a thoughtful, cinematic approach to every frame.
